QWAK, Been having a bit of a back and forth on another board about WAR and TORTURE and the THINGS we HUMANS do to each other consistently down threw HISTORY and some one posted this.

It got ME thinking about MYtraining for Viet Nam and as part of it actualy BEING TORTURED by my country as TRAINING (?) for going to another country ware they had convinced us that WE would likely bE TORTURED if we were COUGHT by "THEM the VC" because WE had top security clearances and would posably have INFORMATION that the ENEMY would WANT!

It was about 12 or 15 hours of HELL after 7 days of "PLATING" Viet Nam out in the boonies with about 2 Hr. sleep out of every 24. We were already EXHOUSTED by the time we were taken to the camp,then forced to strip down to our BVDs and put in to a circular inclosure about 50 feet across and the inclosure concisted of 3 rows of rusty concitena wire with 2 more rows stacked on the bottom 3 rows. There was a double post with a cross bar from post to post about 10 foot off the ground as an ENTRENCE to the "PEN" and patches of THISELS growing in a couple places.

We were made first to line up and march threw the THISELS (we were naked and bare foot) then CRAWL and finely LOW CRAWL on our bellies threw the thisels! I had little scratches all over me, litterly from and on my NOSE to my TOES and EVERY WARE in between ! ;)

After 2 or so hours of this we were beyone exhoustion by a factor of 10? infinity? Way passed caring fo me,I diden't give a DAMN and was NUMB any way! :) Covered in dirt and sweet and a little blood here and there I was a mess!:hahaha: :tongue:

I was the first one chosen (I had messed up their plan to over run our seight by seting out BOOBY traps the likes of which the green bennies had NEVER seen, even in 2 tours of NAM,one even stuck his hand (one night) as he was trying yo get passed my perimiter, in a RAT TRAP booby trap with trip wire and HE was not very happy about THAT).

They tied ropes around both of my wrists and threw them over the cross beam and hoisted me up about 1 foot off the ground. By then I was NUMB and passed feeling much so I was not too impressed, or much more UNCOMFORTABLE then I already was.

What DID impress me was the WIRES from a FIELD PHONE they wraped around my big toes! That I had heard rumors about and I knew the crank generator on a field phone put out 150 volts,I knew how to FIX field phones and THAT impressed me a BUNCH, not that I could do a damn thing about it!:afraid:

They CRANKED and I SCREAMED and they cranked some more,kept doing it till I passed out,then threw some WATER on me and IT felt SOoooooo GOOD and being ME, I ASKED them to throw MORE water on me,GOT more ELECTRICITY in sted ----- SCREAMED a bunch MORE and eventualy they let me down.

They put a NOOSE around my neck and said they were going to HANG me but I did not give a damn so in sted they lead me off like a dog on my hands and knees to a 55 gal barrel filled with water barried to the rim in the ground with a big chunk of ICE in it!

We played "BOBBING for APPLES VC stile"-- with NO apples and ME with my head at the bottom of the barrel holding my breath and my hands tied behind my back!

There was much more but the post got me THINKING about what had happened to me back in 71 and I posted THIS:

QWAK,Once YOU have been TORTURED, your understanding and perception of what it is to BE a HUMAN BEING changes and you are NEVER the same agen! Your natural inclination to TRUST and look to other people for HELP and resque from bad situations is sevearly deminished and when it does happin it is likely reqarded as an EXCEPTION rather than somthing expected.

The MOST brutal and vicious ANAMAL that has ever existed is the HUMAN ANAMAL, because IT has INTELIGENCE and the ability to UNDERSTAND and the CAPASITY and inclinination to INFLICT extream PAIN and SUFFERING on others of its OWN KIND!

The fact that HUMANS have managed to SURVIVE for so long, given their propencity for VIOLENCE is almost AMASING.

Perhaps it is a intigrated natural ability that helps LIMIT and control POPULATION growth, that is trigered by inviromental stress much like in many lower anamals who under strees EAT their OWN YOUNG?

yes duck, being ex-military myself, i understand that the type of people that thrive in the the armed forces have a predisposition to inflicting pain on others - it has to be if your job is to kill other people.

Somehow though i think we need more wars or something with our world population at 6.6 billion.

But I think most of these acts come from a desire to avoid pain in life - if they scare you enough maybe you will be to afraid to act. The same as all these pacifist are tryign to avoid pain through some strange "hurt-noone-and-no-harm-shall-befall-me" philosophy. When pain is just part of life - lets you know theres something wrong, and that you arent dead yet!
